As of 2020, every 10 minutes a crime is committed against a Dalit in India and every day 8 Dalit women are subjected to sexual abuse. However, many are either unaware of these statistics or they, particularly the media persons, deliberately ignore such “hidden apartheid” that India has been regularly witnessing. This article collates some of the available reports on the daily occurrences of caste-based atrocities in 2023. The purpose is to document caste atrocities and thereby bring them to the notice of politically sensitised citizens as well as future historians.
