I have been involved in teaching and research since 2010. I have taught English literature at BA, MA, and PhD levels at four different institutions based in Kolkata, India. I am currently employed as an Assistant Professor of English at Presidency University, Kolkata. I have taught solo courses on Special Author: Shakespeare and Literature and Psychoanalysis at the MA level. My areas of specialization include anti-caste literature, postmodern literature, Holocaust literature, and literary theory. I am pedagogically competent to teach outside these areas too. I have taught texts from almost every single period of literary history. The list of authors I have taught includes but is not limited to: Plato, Aristotle, Aristophanes, Sophocles, Menander, Seneca, Plautus, the Gawain poet, Chretien de Troyes, Machiavelli, Shakespeare, Bacon, Milton, Defoe, Samuel Johnson, Poe, T S Eliot, Joyce, Woolf, Marx, Freud, Vivekananda, Tagore, Ambedkar, Althusser, Fowles, Barthes, Derrida, Baudrillard, Shillingsburg, Lacan, and Celan.

Awards & Honours
Seal of Excellence from the European Commission,
2022

 

Seal of Excellence was awarded to me and the University of Wolverhampton for the proposed project on a psychosocial study of casteism submitted in response to the call for the European Commission's Horizon Europe Marie SkÅ‚odowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowship 2021. The proposal scored 93.6%, the required cut-off mark. 

 

 

Global Engagement Fund, University College London, UK, ​2021

 

I was employed as a research consultant to produce a globally usable module on anti-caste discourse. I prepared a detailed module that I intend to use for teaching in the future.

I qualified as a UGC NET-JRF in English but declined the fellowship since I received two job offers, respectively from Presidency University and Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University.

I was awarded  Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship for my MPhil study in English.

​I earned the position of Assistant Professor of English at Presidency University, Kolkata at the age of 25. I have recently completed 10 years as an Assistant Professor.

​For the last few years, I have been invited every alternate semester to give a few classes on literary theory and postmodern literature at the Department of English, University of Calcutta.

I started teaching at the age of 23 as a Guest Lecturer at the Department of English, Ramakrishna Mission Residential College (Autonomous), Narendrapur, India.

​In 2019, I was awarded Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Arts by Jadavpur University for my thesis titled  "Vivekananda and the Question of the Other: A Critique of Alterity and Subalternity." The thesis is available as an open access document on Shodhganga@INFLIBNET. Click here to read it.

In 2012, I was awarded Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in English by Jadavpur University for my dissertation titled "A Psychoanalytical Study of the Man-Woman Relationship in the Novels of John Fowles." My debut monograph Jacques Lacan: From Clinic to Culture was partially based on my MPhil dissertation.

                   

In 2010 and 2008 I passed MA and BA from the Department of English Jadavpur University with first class marks.
